The Different Dog Personalities You’ll Find at Doggy Daycare 🐶

Every dog is completely unique and that’s one of the best things about doggy daycare!

Spend enough time around a group of dogs and you’ll quickly realise that, just like people, they all have their own personalities, habits and very strong opinions about how the day should be spent.

At Dexters Doggy Daycare, we’ve spotted a few familiar characters… 👀

🐕 The Social Butterfly

This dog knows EVERYONE.

They’ve barely walked through the door before they’ve greeted every member of staff and checked in with all their friends.

Their favourite activity? Making friends.

Their second favourite activity? Making even more friends.

If there’s a new dog at daycare, they’ll be the first to introduce themselves!

⚡ The Chaos Coordinator

You know the one.

They don't necessarily start the chaos… but somehow, whenever something exciting happens, they’re right in the middle of it.

A game of chase? There they are.

Zoomies around the room? Leading the pack.

Someone has found a toy? Suddenly it’s a very important meeting.

They keep everyone entertained, including the staff!

The Professional Lounger

While everyone else is busy playing, this dog has a different agenda.

Find the comfiest bed…Check

Find the quietest corner…Check

Locate the sofa….Mission accomplished.

They’re perfectly happy to join in when they fancy it, but they also understand the importance of taking regular breaks.

Honestly… they may have life figured out.

👃 The Detective

Nothing gets past this dog.

Every corner must be investigated.

Every interesting smell must be followed.

Every new arrival requires a full background check.

They don't simply walk around daycare, they conduct thorough investigations.

And if they suddenly stop and sniff something for 47 seconds?

Please don't interrupt. They're working.

🎾 The Toy Enthusiast

Ball? YES.

Tug toy? YES.

Squeaky toy? DEFINITELY.

This dog believes that every toy in the building deserves attention.

They may even have a particular favourite and will somehow locate it no matter where it has been put.

And if you throw something?

Well, obviously you expect it to be thrown approximately 400 more times.

🥰 The Human's Best Friend

Some dogs come to daycare primarily for their doggy friends.

Others are here because they've discovered that humans are pretty great too.

This is the dog who wants cuddles, attention, fuss and perhaps a little behind-the-ear scratch whenever possible.

They'll happily come over for a quick cuddle before returning to the important business of daycare.

👑 The Boss

Every group seems to have one.

They don't necessarily need to be the biggest dog. They don't even need to make much noise.

They simply have presence.

They know what they want, where they want it and, occasionally, where everyone else should be standing.

Do they run daycare? We don't officially know.

But we're not ruling it out.

🐾 The Little Bit of Everything

And then there are the dogs who simply refuse to fit into one category.

A little bit of social butterfly. A little bit of detective. A little bit of chaos. A little bit of professional lounger.

Because that's the thing about dogs, their personalities can't always be put into neat little boxes.

And that's exactly what makes them so much fun!

At Dexter's, we love getting to know all the different characters who walk through our doors. From the energetic ones to the cuddly ones, the sniffers, the sleepers and the professional troublemakers, there's never a dull day when dogs are involved! 🐶❤️

And the best thing is, every personality can benefit from daycare! 🐾 Whether your dog loves making friends, enjoys a good sniff, needs plenty of exercise, or prefers a cosy spot for a nap, daycare gives them the opportunity to spend the day in a safe, stimulating environment that suits their individual needs. At Dexter's, we love getting to know what makes each dog tick and helping them enjoy their day in their own unique way. ❤️
